When Covid-19 came and hit in an unprecedented way, the world had to quickly adapt and re-organise to the circumstances of the pandemic. Globally, new regulations and measures were introduced, laws were re-aligned within countries and personal lifestyle changes on an individual level were reinforced, everyone is adapting to the new norm – the new way of life, doing business and survival.

MEDI LIFESTYLE formerly known as IEV Holdings Limited was the provision of a range of integrated engineering solutions to support the offshore oil and gas industry (“Engineering Business”) predominantly in the Asia Pacific Region. In October 2019, the Company from the provision of postpartum care in Malaysia had since diversified into the healthcare sector, postpartum care and wellness business (“Healthcare Business”).

On 25 November 2020, the Company fully divested itself of the Engineering Business and on 26 November 2020 changed its name to Medi Lifestyle Limited to reflect the Company’s primary focus on the Healthcare Business. Aim to be one of the best health care service providers in Asia, the Company continuously identifies and strategizes growth opportunities for complementary areas of services in the aesthetics, wellness and healthcare sectors.

“The Covid-19 pandemic was a key challenge affecting the global economy as business activities were curtailed by lockdowns, curfews and safe distancing measures implemented by governments to halt the spread of the virus. The Group’s key operating locations of Malaysia and Singapore were similarly affected by the continuing rounds of movement restrictions due to the resurgence of Covid-19. Despite these uncertain and disruptive times, we felt that there are still insurmountable opportunities in Malaysia that we can still explore. As such, we took the leap to forge ahead and successfully achieved notable milestones in Malaysia and are en-route to becoming a full-fledged healthcare and wellness group in the region.”

Moving forward in 2021/22, exciting plans are in the pipeline to establish MEDI LIFESTYLE as the premium healthcare and wellness group with the first Singapore postpartum service centre to be launched in the last quarter of 2021 in Singapore. This is a significant move that is essential for new parents who had emigrated from Malaysia to Singapore and are now unable to go back to their home country for confinement.

Demand for postpartum services had seen a steep rise as increasingly new parents are embracing postpartum centres to care for mothers and their newborns instead of traditional confinement services. This shift is accelerated by Covid-19 related limitations as well. Before the pandemic, Malaysia was the primary source of confinement nannies, however, the pandemic and border restrictions have resulted in new Malaysian parents having to contend with a limited number of local nannies and some without having their parents turn to due to the travel restrictions.

The pandemic gave MEDI LIFESTYLE an opportunity to acquire premises that have closed down and convert them into postpartum services centres to provide a professional one-stop complete suite of post-natal care for both mother and baby, in Malaysia.

Nadora, a professional postpartum wellness care service centre was first launched in Malaysia in 2020 to weave together traditional confinement practices and contemporary nursing care by combining the expertise of healthcare practitioners and wellness specialists to curate a wellness programme that takes care of the mothers from inside out. By providing peace of mind for the mothers to rest and heal after birth, the babies are also well taken care of by the professionals. In addition, Nadora also provides personalised wellness services including yoga sessions, newborn care consultation, breastfeeding support and genetic profiling that help assist mothers on their journey to motherhood, in a holistic approach with ease.

In Malaysia, a second centre will be coming up soon with 50 suites equipped with a nursery, incubation room, in-house chiropractic and physiotherapy services – targeted to be operational by the second quarter of 2021. In Singapore, renovation works for the first postpartum centre is scheduled to be completed by the last quarter of 2021.

MEDI LIFESTYLE has also incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary Back to Life Sdn. Bhd. will be used as a vehicle to offer services related to alternative medicine including traditional Chinese medicine, chiropractic and physiotherapy services.

These services are available in its postpartum centres as well as stand-alone centres. Currently, MEDI LIFESTYLE has two postpartum centres in Malaysia and one (to be launched) in Singapore as well as 1 chiropractic and physiology centre in Malaysia.
